It had to end sometime

So the ride up Big Bear was perfect as mentioned in the previous post. I know that the legs would rebel at some point. Thought for sure it was going to be on the day after (Sunday). Nope so I pushed that ride also. Any soreness after that...why funny you should ask....NOPE!? WTF.

So I decided to ride the bike to work on Monday and then home. So, I wake up Monday with no real issues with the legs. I am not even feeling tired, ride to work taking it easy to insure that i am ready for the Spinervals workout that will come on Tuesday. Great, no problem, I ride home also taking it easy and still feel OK only a little tired.

And that brings us to today (Tuesday), still not sore but I had NOTHING on the trainer today. I mean nothing, I could not even get my heart rate over 133! I decided not to push it as an inability to get your heart rate to climb is a sure sign of being tired/over trained.

Now i am sitting here typing this at 6:00 pm and still no soreness in the legs. I keep saying that because I always have sore legs after a hard training day and this time nothing. Strange. Now I will have to see what happens when I get on the trainer on Wednesday.

To Onyx!

Some of you may know we went up to Big Bear to rid the bike today. If you did not know that then you need to pay more attention to my Twitter and Blog, moving on.

So up this morning at 5:00, drink coffee, load the car, drink coffee, feed the dog, drink coffee....well you get the idea. Out of the house at about 6:30 and down the road. The morning temp was perfect here but not ridding here...dam.

Stop at Chick-fil-A for breakfast, very yummy and the first time we have had there breakfast menu. I had there chicken breakfast burrito, hash brown thingies, and part of a biscuit with gravy. I was hungry don't judge me!

We arrived at the Ranger Station on the corner of Bryant and Mill Creek Rd or Hwy 38. Got geared up and headed out on the road. *side note I had my saddle replaced under warranty, my LBS ROCKS! See Broke my Butt.*

I felt awesome! No leg pain so I decided that today was going to be a hard day in the saddle. I road within +/- 5 beats of my LT for the duration of the climb. Let's not make this sound all rosy and sweet..it was not. I still have a long way to go to get back into top shape. I felt my lower back giving out as I neared the top so that is a sign that the core work needs to be stepped up. Also the legs were a little pooped at i got within 4 miles of the top. So that is more work that needs to be done there also.

With that said (sound like Jillian Michaels) I made it to the top and felt great overall so I am on the right track.

I broke my butt!

I was up early yesterday, well early for me (6 am) and having coffee when I decided that I should get a Twitter account. I have no idea why because I can barely keep up this blog, but what the hell (check it out in the sidebar).

After waiting out the cold morning I went out for a bike ride through the Joshua Tree national Park. Full loop heading west on Hy 62 into Joshua Tree then up into the park. Once in the park up to the top of Keys View then down and continuing through the park for a grand total of 63 miles.

On to the broken butt. As I have mentioned in the earlier post I pulled/hurt my hip/IT/hamstring...whatever, it has been a problem lately. As I came into Joshua Tree there was a farmers market which I decided to check out. I dismounted the bike and while holding the saddle I feel a sharp edger underneath...WTF!?

As I continued to investigate sure enough may fat ass has somehow broken my saddle! This could explain the pain in my leg due to improper fit..right? Well, I think so. I continued the ride anyway (had to get home) now I have to use an old saddle untill I can get the new one.

That is how I broke my butt. Because you care...you know you do.

Check out the cutest puppy I spotted at the farmers market.

I spotted another beautiful plant on the ride.

Plant & Redlands

This post is just a little late....ok, alot late. But what the hell, here we go!

I was out for a ride the other day and came across this cool plant out in the desert.

I could not believe this thing, it just looked fake to me. Just goes to show that there is beauty, even in the desert.

Redlands, all I can say is wow! Still one of the coolest races to go to. Great access to the riders and lots of places to get close to the race. Check out some of the great photos.

The BAD BOYS of Cycling! ROCK RACING! Go baby!

Jelly Belly Bike!
Ziggy the wonder dog!

Speaking of getting close to the race check out the video.

KOM and WTF

I am out of KOM :( Sorry had to use the sad face. But I am truly sad. I enjoy the challenge but I know that this year I am just not up to par yet. I spent far to many mornings sleeping in, my evenings eating to much and not near enough time ridding.

I will be doing Breathless Agony and Ride Around the Bear. So, the ridding continues and if all goes well i will be as ready as I want to be. Ok, enough about that.

California Tax increase started today. I have only 3 words" THAT FING SUCKS!". The morons that run this State over spend and continue to push so many of these poorly run and useless programs down our throats which do nothing but contribute to the debt that we are in. They over spend and poorly manage then raise our taxes to get us out of the problem that they created! WTF!

This has become a never ending cycle with government. I think that the worst part of this is that WE continue to allow this to happen. There needs to be some accountability in all levels of our government. Otherwise, this is just going to go on and on. We need to force Government to buckle down and make the hard choices and frankly, a lot of people are not going to want to do what is necessary to get where we need to be.

Steps off soap box now.

KOM!?

I have not mentioned the KOM series because I was unsure whether or not I was going to do the series. Originally I had no plans on doing the KOM series this year, then....I saw the jersey for this year and I just thought "I have to get that one".

So, I started to get ready for this about a month out from the start and I am now regretting the decision. First, a month is not even close to enough time to get back into shape and lose about 20 pounds! Second, I have been pushing hard to get into shape and strained by hamstring a few days ago. Now i am not sure if I can recover and improve enough to do this ride justice.

The leg feels better today than 3 days ago when it started hurting. I am still on the fence as to whether or not I am going to attempt to do the KOM this year or not. Time will tell and I don't have much of it because I only have until this Saturday to decide

Some things are just stupid.

The SciFi channel has made the brilliant decision to change there name. Now I know that companies change there names all the time. Usually when they change there name it is to something cool or just different to spice things up a bit.

Well, the network has decided to change there name to, get this, the SyFy Channel. WTF! This sounds like some kind of Ebonics crap. You would think that they could come up with something better than the SyFy channel. This is the article http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29726865/ if you want to read it.

Short rant but there it is.

New Toy...OHHH the PAIN

So I am kind of a tech-geek. I like all the fancy computers (cant use them well but love them), the hi-tech cameras (that I never carry with me), and of course the cool training computers for cycling (which i can not live with out).

I have had several different makes and models of cycle computers and all are fine in there own way. Polar is my favorite so far, I have not tried a power meter, but that may be the next one. Enter my new toy, the Polar RS 800!

This thing is so cool I do not even know all of the stuff it can do yet! But so far I love it.

As I mentioned the other day I did Spinervals and I am still feeling it. I did another Spinervals workout today and it took everything I had just to complete the workout. I was sooo sore...I have been gimping around like a bad Forest Gump impression for 2 days now. I know that it is going to be tough but I plan to be in the same shape or better that I was in 2005 (good year for me) by Ride Around the Bear on June 13, 2009. So that is the goal and it is out there for all 3 people that actually read this to see! Now I just have to meet it.

3 Hours of Hell then......MMMM

So as I mentioned the other day I did 3 hours on the trainer Saturday (Spinervals: Tough Love). All I can say is, WOW, one tough workout if you truly follow it and don't half ass the thing. I burned 2585 calories doing this Spinervals workout and when it was over I was DONE.

After the workout we went down to Palm Springs to do some shopping and get hair cuts. While I was waiting for my turn for the hair cut one of the girls working there was having lunch in the back. It was Mexican food and it looked soooo good. I have never eaten at El Ranchito before but I will again. Great food for a good price.

This is what I had.

This is what the wife had.

This is mine after.

I will for sure be eating there again. If there is one in your area I recommend that you give them a try.

Flash forward to today...I was not sore at all! When we went out for our recovery ride (16 miles) I felt awesome. I am not sure what that is all about but I will take it.

let there be no illusions, I could not have done a hard effort today if i had to, but at least i did not feel like a turd warmed over.

Not much going on

Well lets re phrase that....I do not have anything interesting that happened today. Today was just work and home. Boring! I need to bring my camera everywhere just in case something cool happens so I can photo it and post something fun and interesting to talk about.

This Saturday I will be doing Spinervals 13.0, Tough Love. No, this is not some porn movie. For those that don't know, it is a bicycle workout and a dam tough one at that! This is a 3 hour workout on the bike trainer. Right now I am fired up about it but come Saturday I know I am going to bitch and complain about having to do this thing. Here is a link to his sight and a preview of the workout: http://www.spinervals.com/products/item26.cfm

I try to keep telling myself that if I want to have good times at the bike events I have chosen for the year, then I need to put in the time...after all I am no spring chicken anymore and it takes a bit longer for my fitness to come back from the drinking, eating and laying around i have done all winter.

So, stand by for the different up coming workouts and hopefully some interesting things to happen day to day

What to talk about?

So, the thought I had today was, what should I talk about on my Blog? It's a pretty simple question, but there are so many things to talk about, that the question is not so much what should I talk about as it is, who is going to care about what I have to say.

Then I realized...Hey, it is me, everything I have to say is important and interesting. People love me...they really love me! So this is my first true entry.

I work with some very different people to say the least. Today I am going to talk about "Tom", (names have been changed to protect the innocent). "Tom" is a single, 30 something guy who some how manages to "date" (and i use that term loosely) multiple very hot women. Now this all buy its self is not a big deal. I am sure that there are a bunch of people out there that might fall into that description.

The thing that is different about "Tom" is that :
1. he dates them at the same time.
2. he is not lying about it.
3. the girls go beyond anything i have ever seen to keep him happy.

Lets talk about #3 for a minute. I do not mean that they buy his favorite beer or give up there weekend to do what he wants. "Toms" latest knows he is in to piercings and tats so what does she do? She goes out and pierces both of her nipples! On top of that she takes photos of them with her cell phone and shoots them to him via text.....Awesome! All of this is leading up to the photo.....actually I was unable to procure the rights to the photos at the time of this printing.

I have know idea where this is going so I will just leave you with...BOOBIES!

This is a test to see what this dam thingis going to look likewhen it is up and running. i hope that it comes out like I want it to, because we all know that cyclist are posers!

Here are a couple of shots from Cross Vegas back in September.
